Celebrating Life: Reflections on Another Trip Around The Sun

In Paradise
Pre-Birthday Celebrating at Church
This is an entry from my journal I wrote a few days before my 38th birthday. Since Grow With Daé is about personal growth, I wanted to share it with my readers.

As I turned 38, I felt a strong urge to reflect on what it means to be a woman at this age. I am on the verge of hitting 40, but not quite yet. In the past, this age was considered the start of one's decline, but now it's seen as a time when life is at its best. Here are some of my thoughts on this subject.

I KNOW LESS NOW.

Life is unpredictable. When you feel like you have everything under control, the universe surprises you with unexpected twists and turns, reminding you that no one can ever fully predict what will happen next. One thing I do know is that change is a constant. As I enter this new year, I aspire to embrace all the ups and downs that come my way with open arms and a big smile instead of trying to hold on too tightly and resist the changes.

I AM WHO I AM.

I have come to a profound realization that trying to please everyone is futile. It doesn't make anyone happy, least of all myself. In recent years, I have become less tolerant of people who have ulterior motives. Instead, I am more interested in investing my time and energy in people and practices that value honesty, authenticity, and the present moment.

Confession Moment:-
I used to feel apprehensive about potentially offending others or sharing my viewpoints. Despite being confident and outspoken, I often worried about how my beliefs would be received and whether I would face judgment or rejection by speaking my mind or advocating for myself. Nevertheless, I have grown past these concerns and accepted myself for who I am. Whether or not someone approves of me, I no longer have the energy to concern myself with it.

I AM FLAWED.

As I approach my 38th birthday, I take pride in reflecting on my life and career. I am confident that I am on the right path and proud of all I have accomplished. I know I am not perfect, but I embrace my imperfections as they make me unique. I am a meticulous planner, fiercely protective of my child, and I take pride in maintaining a clean and organized space. I also enjoy indulging in a glass of wine (or two) occasionally without guilt.

As I embark on the next decade, I am excited to continue growing and evolving into the best version of myself. I trust in myself and in the Lord to guide me along my journey with assurance and confidence.

I AM GRATEFUL.

I understand that gratitude is often a topic that's discussed frequently online, and it can be frustrating to see others expressing gratitude when you're not feeling particularly grateful or satisfied with certain aspects of your life. However, I want to stress the importance of gratitude in our daily lives. Like you, I experience moments of feeling unfulfilled and understand that not everything is perfect. Nevertheless, I am grateful for my life, family, friends, career, and the ability to adapt and grow.

Please know that I am not here to pass judgment or demand that you always feel grateful, as we are all human. However, I firmly believe that incorporating gratitude into your daily routine at a time that works for you is essential for long-term happiness.

I WANT MORE.

Leading by example is the best way to guide oneself or anyone else. Whenever I achieve a goal, I always set my sights on the next one. That could be a personal growth milestone or a tangible objective, such as starting a new project. Growth is a never-ending process, and there's always room for improvement.

By sharing my aspirations with the world, I hope to inspire other middle-aged boss-babes and moms out there to pursue their dreams. We all have the power to shape the rest of our lives according to our wishes. As for me, I plan to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.

How about you?
